## Company history

Halliburton was founded in 1919 by Erle P. Halliburton as New Method Oil Well Cementing Co. in Oklahoma. The company received a patent for a method of excluding water from oil wells in 1921, and began international expansion with cementing-unit sales to Burma in 1926, followed by operations in Venezuela in 1940 and the Middle East in 1946.
