## Business segments

Huntington reports two business segments: Consumer & Regional Banking and Commercial Banking, alongside a Treasury / Other function. Consumer & Regional Banking serves consumer and business customers through lending, deposits, payments, mortgages, dealer financing, wealth management, trust and estate services, brokerage, and insurance. Commercial Banking serves mid-market to large corporate clients, providing banking, asset finance, commercial real estate, capital markets, government and specialty banking, and national settlement services. [24](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=P10316399)[25](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=P57540295)[26](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=P83432781)

For FY2025, approximate segment contributions measured as net interest income plus noninterest income were Consumer & Regional Banking $5.551 billion (68%), Commercial Banking $2.911 billion (36%), and Treasury / Other negative $296 million (negative 4%), against consolidated net interest income plus noninterest income of $8.166 billion. The business-segment shares exceed 100% in total because Treasury / Other is negative. Treasury / Other includes items outside the two business segments, primarily technology and operations and other unallocated assets, liabilities, revenues, and expenses. ## Company history

Founded in Columbus, Ohio, in 1866 as P.W. Huntington & Company, the bank began acquiring other institutions in 1923. Its 1958 acquisition of Market Exchange Bank added its first branch, and in 1966 Huntington Bancshares was formed as a bank holding company with 13 branches. Over subsequent decades, Huntington expanded beyond Ohio into neighboring Midwestern and Appalachian states. [29](https://www.huntington.com/About-Us/160-years)

Huntington’s expansion included its 2007 merger with Sky Financial Group and its 2014 acquisition of Camco Financial. In 2009, Stephen D. Steinour became chairman, president, and CEO. The 2016 acquisition of FirstMerit and 2021 merger with TCF Financial further enlarged the bank’s Midwest presence.
