## Business segments

For FY2025, Weyerhaeuser reported three segments: Timberlands, Real Estate & ENR, and Wood Products. Approximate shares of consolidated net sales, based on each segment’s sales to unaffiliated customers, were Timberlands 21.6% ($1.494 billion), Real Estate & ENR 6.6% ($454 million), and Wood Products 71.8% ($4.957 billion), out of $6.905 billion total. [22](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=T12341408) Timberlands grows and harvests timber, selling delivered logs and stumpage/pay-as-cut timber, and earns revenue from recreational and other leases. [13](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=P86359897) Real Estate & ENR focuses on optimizing timberland value and developing surface and subsurface assets, including real estate, natural resources, conservation, mitigation banking, renewable-energy leases, and climate/carbon solutions. [14](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=P16830070) Wood Products manufactures and sells structural lumber, wood panels, and engineered wood products, with sales primarily serving new residential construction and repair and remodeling markets. [23](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=P73456417)

The sales percentages use external segment sales, excluding intersegment transactions; Timberlands also reported $592 million of intersegment sales, which are eliminated in consolidation. [22](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=T12341408) In 2026, the company renamed Real Estate & ENR to Strategic Land Solutions. [24](https://app.finbar.com/go?id=P60032746)

## Company history

Weyerhaeuser Timber Company was incorporated in Washington in 1900 by Frederick Weyerhaeuser and 15 partners, following their acquisition of about 900,000 acres of timberland. The company expanded into lumber manufacturing, buying its first sawmill in 1902 and opening a major mill in Longview, Washington, in 1929. [25](https://www.weyerhaeuser.com/company/history/)[25](https://www.weyerhaeuser.com/company/history/)

Weyerhaeuser listed its shares on the New York and Pacific Coast stock exchanges in 1963. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, it expanded through the acquisitions of MacMillan Bloedel in 1999 and Willamette Industries in 2002. From 2006 through 2010, the company reshaped its portfolio, combining its fine-paper business with Domtar, selling its containerboard, packaging and recycling businesses, and converting to real estate investment trust (REIT) status effective in 2010. In 2016, it completed its merger with Plum Creek, significantly expanding its timberland holdings, and sold its Cellulose Fibers pulp mills to International Paper.
