Overview
Advantest Corporation is a Japan-based technology company whose core business is semiconductor test equipment. Its portfolio includes automated test equipment for system-on-chip, power and memory devices, as well as component test equipment, system-level test solutions, software and related services. These products support semiconductor testing across the chip development and manufacturing chain and serve applications including AI and high-performance computing, smartphones, medical devices and automotive systems.[1][2][3]

Products & services
Advantest’s semiconductor test portfolio includes the V93000 EXA Scale system for advanced digital IC testing, with SoC test capabilities configurable for logic, analog, RF, DC and image-sensor circuits. Its memory-test range includes the T5801, designed for high-speed DRAM testing including GDDR7, LPDDR6 and DDR6, and the T5835, which supports high-speed DRAM and NAND flash testing, including DDR and LPDDR devices.[3][8][9][10]
Other offerings include component-test handlers, device interfaces, test-cell automation and system-level test (SLT) systems. Handlers automate final-test device transport, temperature control and sorting. The 7038 SLT/burn-in platform can test up to 720 devices simultaneously; a high-power 7038 STR configuration supports up to 1.4 kW per site and up to 48 devices simultaneously. SmarTest is system software for the V93000 family, and Advantest also offers SLT services spanning test strategy, hardware, software, automation and support.[11][12][13][14][15][16]
For FY2024, the year ended March 31, 2025, semiconductor and component test systems generated ¥598.1 billion, or about 76.7% of total revenue of ¥779.7 billion. This included SoC testers at ¥440.4 billion (about 56.5% of total revenue) and memory testers at ¥157.7 billion (about 20.2%). Mechatronics Systems contributed ¥73.2 billion (about 9.4%); Services, Support & Others contributed ¥108.4 billion (about 13.9%), comprising Support Services, etc. at ¥56.7 billion and System Level Test at ¥51.7 billion.[17] [17][17][17][17][17][17][17][17][3][8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16]

Advantest’s geographic footprint spans Japan, the Americas, Europe, Southeast and South Asia, South Korea, Taiwan, and China, with offices and subsidiaries across these markets. As of March 31, 2026, it reported 7,241 employees excluding temporary employees: 2,209 in Japan and 5,032 overseas.[6][5]
For FY2025, ended March 31, 2026, sales were reported by customer “ship-to region.” Reported regional sales included China at ¥569.5 billion (about 50.5% of consolidated sales), Taiwan at ¥213.3 billion (18.9%), the Americas at ¥180.3 billion (16.0%), and South Korea at ¥44.5 billion (3.9%). Business segments
For FY2025, ended March 31, 2026, Advantest reported two segments: **Test System Business** and **Services and Others**. Test System Business includes SoC testers, memory testers and other test systems, including test handlers, device interfaces and system-level test systems. Its sales were ¥1,019.4 billion, approximately **90.3%** of consolidated net sales.[21][20]
**Services and Others** recorded sales of ¥109.2 billion, approximately **9.7%** of consolidated net sales.[20] Earlier company materials used a three-segment presentation: Semiconductor & Component Test Systems, Mechatronics Systems, and Services, Support & Others; the FY2025 materials use the two-segment presentation above.[22][23][21] [22][23][21][20]
Company history
Advantest was founded in December 1954 as Takeda Riken Co., Ltd. by Ikuo Takeda, initially operating with three employees.[24] The company moved into semiconductor testing in 1972, launching what its history describes as Japan’s first semiconductor test systems; in 1983 its shares began trading on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, and in 1985 it adopted the name Advantest Corporation.[25][26]
During the 1990s and early 2000s, Advantest expanded its test-equipment portfolio with VLSI and memory testers, followed by the V93000 system for system-on-chip testing in 1999 and the T2000 SoC tester in 2003.[25] In 2011 it completed the acquisition of Verigy, broadening its tester portfolio and global operations; the integration was finalized during that fiscal year.[27]
In 2023, Advantest completed its acquisition of Taiwan-based Shin Puu Technology, expanding its high-end test-board manufacturing capabilities.[28] In April 2024, Douglas Lefever became Group CEO, Koichi Tsukui became President and Group COO, and Yoshiaki Yoshida became Board Chair.[29] [24][25][26][27][28][29]
