Alaska Air Group, Inc. is an air-transportation holding company whose businesses provide passenger airline service, regional connections, cargo transportation and loyalty-program services. Its principal brands and operating companies include Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Horizon Air and aviation-services provider McGee Air Services.[1][2]

The group’s network serves more than 140 destinations across North America, Central America, Asia and the Pacific, with major hubs including Seattle and Honolulu.[2][3] Alaska and Hawaiian describe their shared mission as connecting communities, supporting economic growth, innovating and caring for the places they serve.[4]

For fiscal 2025, Alaska Air Group reported consolidated operating revenue of $14.239 billion and 35,951 active employees at year-end.[5][6] [1]

Products & services

Alaska Air Group’s principal customer product is scheduled passenger air transportation sold under the Alaska and Hawaiian brands. Its mainline fleet includes Boeing 737, 787 and 717 and Airbus A330 and A321neo aircraft; regional passenger service is operated on Embraer E175 aircraft through Horizon and SkyWest. Alaska offers First Class, Premium Class and Main Cabin, with onboard food and drink, personal-device entertainment and Wi-Fi. Hawaiian offers First Class and Premium Class, with cabin and dining services including on its Airbus A330 fleet.[7]

Cargo offerings include GoldStreak Package Express for time-critical shipments, Priority Air Freight for expedited larger shipments, and General Air Freight for less time-sensitive shipments. The group also operates the Atmos Rewards loyalty program, through which members earn points from travel, card and partner purchases and redeem them for flights, upgrades, hotels and other experiences. McGee Air Services provides aviation support including ground handling and cabin cleaning.[16]

For 2025, passenger revenue was $12.835 billion, approximately 90.1% of consolidated operating revenue; loyalty-program other revenue was $855 million (6.0%), and cargo and other revenue was $549 million (3.9%). The last category combines cargo with other revenue and is not a cargo-only measure.[5] [7]

Geographic presence

Alaska Air Group’s passenger network spans North America, Latin America, Asia and the Pacific, with Europe added to its stated network regions in 2026. Its largest concentrations of departures are at hubs in Seattle, Honolulu, Portland, Anchorage, Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco. The company’s FY2025 geographic revenue categories define “Domestic” to include the United States, Neighbor Island routes and Canada; “Latin America” includes Mexico, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Belize and the Bahamas; and “Pacific” includes the South Pacific, Australia, New Zealand and Asia.[24][25]

In FY2025, passenger revenue was $11.631 billion domestic (about 90.6% of passenger revenue), $674 million in Latin America (5.3%) and $530 million in the Pacific (4.1%), out of $12.835 billion total.[26] Cargo operations include five dedicated freighters operating primarily to and within Alaska. The company also lists operations, training, administrative or data-center facilities in California, Hawaii, Oregon and Washington, call centers in Phoenix and Boise, and hangars in Portland, Everett and Spokane; employee distribution by geography was not specified in the cited information.[27][28] [24]

Business segments

As of the Q2 2026 reporting period, Alaska Air Group reports one consolidated operating segment, following changes to its business, organizational structure, and the financial information reviewed by the chief operating decision maker (CODM). The segment covers the company’s integrated airline operations; the CODM assesses performance and allocates resources using consolidated financial results.[29]

Accordingly, the sole reported segment represents approximately 100% of consolidated operating revenue; the company does not report separate segment contributions for Alaska, Hawaiian, or Horizon. Consolidated operating revenue was $4.065 billion in Q2 2026 and $7.365 billion in the first half of 2026, but these amounts are not broken out by airline brand or subsidiary.[31] [29]

Company history

Alaska Air Group’s airline roots date to 1932, when operations began in Anchorage; the airline was incorporated in Alaska in 1937 and adopted the Alaska Airlines name in 1944. In 1968, Alaska merged with Alaska Coastal-Ellis and Cordova Airlines, expanding its service in Southeast Alaska.[33][34]

Alaska Air Group was incorporated in 1985. Horizon Air, founded in 1981, became part of the group when Alaska acquired it in 1986.[1]

The group expanded beyond Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air by acquiring Virgin America in 2016; the airlines later combined their operations and operating certificates in 2018. In 2024, Air Group completed its acquisition of Hawaiian Holdings, bringing Hawaiian Airlines into the group while retaining its distinct brand.[1] [1]
