Geographic presence

In FY2026, Alimentation Couche-Tard operated across North America, Europe and Asia. As of April 26, 2026, its network included 9,356 North American stores, of which 8,387 dispensed road fuel; 4,820 European stores; and 387 company-operated stores in Hong Kong SAR. Its head office is in Laval, Québec, Canada.[11][13] [11]

Business segments

For FY2026, ended April 26, 2026, Alimentation Couche-Tard reports revenue by geography rather than presenting these regions as formal reportable business segments. The geographic breakdown was the United States, US$43.7 billion (57.1% of consolidated revenue); Europe and other regions, US$25.1 billion (32.8%); and Canada, US$7.7 billion (10.1%). The company describes its operations across these regions as convenience and mobility retail.[14]

These are revenue categories, not additional geographic segments; the regional and product-category percentages are alternative views of consolidated revenue.[14] [14]

Company history

Alimentation Couche-Tard traces its origins to 1980, when Alain Bouchard opened the first Couche-Tard store in Laval, Québec; the company’s founding team included Bouchard, Réal Plourde, and Richard Fortin.[15] It entered the U.S. in 2001 through the acquisition of Bigfoot stores, and expanded its reach in 2003 by acquiring Circle K Corporation.[18] In 2012, the acquisition of Statoil Fuel & Retail marked its entry into Europe.[22][23]
