Company history

Allegion plc was formed in 2013, but its history draws on security businesses and brands with much older roots. Among the milestones in that heritage are the development of Von Duprin’s exit device in 1908, the founding of Schlage in 1920 and CISA in 1926.[24]

On December 1, 2013, Ingersoll Rand completed the spin-off of its commercial and residential security businesses as Allegion; Allegion began trading on the New York Stock Exchange the following day.[25] In the following years, the company expanded its portfolio and geographic reach through acquisitions including SimonsVoss in 2015 and businesses in Australia and New Zealand in 2018.[28][29]

Allegion added connected-access capabilities through acquisitions including Yonomi in 2021, and broadened its automatic-entrance business by completing the $900 million acquisition of Stanley Access Technologies in 2022.[30][31] Its later portfolio additions included specialty-door and hardware businesses in 2024 and 2025, such as Krieger Specialty Products, Unicel Architectural and ELATEC.[32] [24]
