Updated

Overview

Amcor plc is a global packaging company operating in flexible and rigid packaging. Its products include flexible packaging made from polymer resin, aluminum and fiber, as well as rigid containers and closures, dispensing solutions and pharmaceutical delivery devices. The company serves customers in food, beverage, healthcare, and home and personal care markets across Europe, North America, Latin America and Asia Pacific.[1]

For the fiscal year ended June 30, 2026, Amcor reported net sales of $23.506 billion. Its FY2026 segment disclosures list about 36,000 employees in flexible packaging and 38,000 in rigid packaging, with each segment operating in 33 countries.[5] Amcor states its purpose as “Together, we elevate customers, shape lives and protect the future.” [6] [1]

Products & services

Amcor’s flexible packaging products include films, pouches, lidding and specialty flexible folding cartons, using polymer-resin-, aluminum- and fiber-based materials. Its rigid packaging range includes containers, preforms, closures, dispensing products and pharmaceutical delivery devices. In FY2026, flexible packaging represented about 55% of consolidated net sales and rigid packaging about 45%.[2][3] [2][3]

Geographic presence

Amcor operates in more than 40 countries, with over 400 locations. Its latest regional sales breakdown available here is for FY2025: North America generated $7.194 billion (47.9%), Europe $4.321 billion (28.8%), Latin America $1.790 billion (11.9%), and Asia Pacific $1.704 billion (11.4%), out of $15.009 billion total. Percentages are calculated from reported regional sales; the figures are regional rather than country-level.[7][8] The company reported FY2026 net sales of $23.506 billion, but the cited regional breakdown does not provide a FY2026 regional split.[9]

At June 30, 2026, Amcor had approximately 75,000 employees: 39% in North America, 34% in Europe, Middle East and Africa, 12% in Latin America, and 15% in Asia Pacific.[10] Its head office is in Zurich, Switzerland, and its China network includes 23 manufacturing sites and two R&D centers.[11][12] [7]

Business segments

Amcor reports two operating segments: **Global Flexible Packaging Solutions**, focused on flexible packaging made from polymer resins, aluminum and fiber; and **Global Rigid Packaging Solutions**, focused on rigid containers, closures, dispensing systems and pharmaceutical-delivery devices. Both serve customers worldwide.[2][3] Amcor’s nutrition, health, beauty and wellness markets and its food, beverage and healthcare applications describe its broader portfolio, not additional reportable segments.[13]

For FY2026, the year ended June 30, 2026, net sales were $12.829 billion for Flexible and $10.677 billion for Rigid, against $23.506 billion consolidated net sales. That is approximately **54.6% Flexible** and **45.4% Rigid**; Amcor also describes the mix in rounded terms as 55% and 45%, respectively.[16] [2]

Company history

Amcor traces its origins to 1868, when Samuel Ramsden established a paper mill in Melbourne. The business expanded into packaging and, in 1986, Australian Paper Manufacturers changed its name to Amcor. In 2000, Amcor demerged its paper operations, with PaperlinX becoming a separate company and Amcor focusing more squarely on packaging.[17]

Amcor expanded internationally through acquisitions, including selected Alcan Packaging businesses in 2010 and Sonoco’s Specialty Containers business in 2016. Its 2019 combination with Bemis created a larger packaging group operating as Amcor plc. In 2025, Amcor completed its combination with Berry Global, another major milestone in the company’s growth through acquisitions.[20] [23]
