Overview

APi Group Corp. is a global business-services company focused on fire and life safety, security, elevator and escalator, and specialty services. Its work includes the design, installation, inspection, servicing and monitoring of fire-protection, security and elevator systems.[1][2] APi describes its purpose as “Building Great Leaders”; the company traces its origins to a plumbing business founded in St. Paul, Minnesota, in 1926.[3]

APi reported 2025 net revenue of $7.911 billion.[4] In 2026, it described a workforce of about 29,000 teammates and a footprint of more than 500 locations worldwide.[3] [1]

Products & services

APi Group’s Safety Services include the design, installation, inspection, monitoring, maintenance, repair and retrofit of fire-protection and life-safety systems, alongside electronic security and elevator and escalator services. Its system offerings include fire alarms and detection, automatic sprinklers—including ESFR, foam and pre-action dry systems—fire pumps, water- and inert-gas-based suppression, special-hazard systems, access control, and security surveillance.[5]

Specialty Services include HVAC and plumbing, utility and fiber work, water and sewer infrastructure, heavy civil work, specialty contracting, fabrication and distribution. HVAC capabilities include chillers, boilers, sheet-metal fabrication, controls, and ongoing service and maintenance; the company also describes mechanical systems for mission-critical and hyperscale facilities.[9] APi’s materials identify system types and service capabilities rather than branded product models or detailed engineering performance specifications.

In the first half of 2026, Safety Services generated $2.896 billion, or approximately 68.4% of external revenue, and Specialty Services generated $1.340 billion, or approximately 31.6%.[12] In FY2025, reported revenue categories were Life Safety (about 69.0%), Infrastructure and Utility (12.9%), Specialty Contracting (13.8%), and Fabrication and Distribution (4.3%).[13] [8]

Geographic presence

APi Group reported operations in more than 20 countries in its 2025 annual reporting. It specifically identified facilities in the United States, France, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the Netherlands, as well as in more than 15 other countries. Foreign operations generated approximately 35% of consolidated net revenue, indicating that the United States is the company’s principal geographic market.[14]

The company’s headquarters are in New Brighton, Minnesota. At year-end 2025, APi owned approximately 50 facilities and leased approximately 500 across the United States and its international markets. These include offices, warehouses, storage, fabrication and manufacturing sites, maintenance shops, and training facilities; the filing does not provide a country-by-country facility count.[15] [14][15]

Business segments

APi Group reports two reportable segments: Safety Services and Specialty Services. For FY2025, Safety Services generated $5.455 billion, approximately 69% of consolidated revenue of $7.911 billion; it includes life-safety offerings such as fire protection, electronic security, and elevators and escalators.[16] Specialty Services generated $2.456 billion, approximately 31%, and includes specialty contracting, fabrication and distribution, and infrastructure and utility services.[18][17]

Safety Services includes the North American Life Safety and International Life Safety operating segments; Specialty Services is the other reportable segment.[16] APi moved HVAC from Safety Services to Specialty Services in January 2025 and recast prior-period segment information.[19][20] [16]

Company history

APi Group traces its origins to a 1926 insulation contracting and distribution division of the Reuben L. Anderson-Cherne mechanical company in St. Paul. The business began diversifying beyond insulation in 1980 and adopted the APi Group name in 1997.[21]

On October 1, 2019, J2 Acquisition Limited completed its acquisition of APi Group, Inc.; J2 was renamed APi Group Corporation. The company’s shares began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on April 29, 2020.[22][23]

A major subsequent expansion came on January 3, 2022, when APi completed its acquisition of Carrier Global’s Chubb Fire & Security business for an enterprise value of $3.1 billion.[24] [25]
