Overview
Archrock, Inc. is a U.S.-focused energy infrastructure company specializing in natural-gas compression, a service that supports gas production, processing, transportation and storage. Its two core businesses are contract operations, which provides compression using Archrock-owned equipment, and aftermarket services for customer-owned compression equipment, including maintenance, repair, parts and related support.[1][2][3]
The company describes its commitment as helping customers produce, compress and transport natural gas safely and in an environmentally responsible manner.[1] For the year ended December 31, 2025, Archrock reported revenue of approximately $1.49 billion, and it had 1,350 employees at year-end.[4][5] [1][2][3][4][5]
Products & services
Archrock provides natural-gas compression through equipment it designs, sources, installs, operates, services, repairs and maintains for customers. Its compression offerings include gas-driven units and electric-motor-drive (EMD) systems; the EMD offering includes remote monitoring, automation and control capabilities.[6][7][8] At year-end 2025, its fleet comprised 5,319 units with 4.788 million aggregate horsepower, across unit classes of 0–1,000 hp, 1,001–1,500 hp, and over 1,500 hp.[9]
For customer-owned compression equipment, aftermarket services include operations, maintenance, overhauls and reconfiguration, as well as parts and components sales.[6][10][11] The company also offers compressor parts, shop overhauls and rebuilds, and field repair and preventive-maintenance services.[12][13][14]
Contract operations generated approximately 88.6% of revenue in the six months ended June 30, 2026, with aftermarket services contributing approximately 11.4%; for full-year 2025, the respective shares were approximately 85.4% and 14.6%.[15][16] [6][9][10][15][15][15][16][16][16][7][8][11][12][13][14]
Geographic presence
Archrock operates throughout substantially all major U.S. natural-gas and crude-oil producing regions. Its largest specified geographic concentration is the Permian and Eagle Ford, which together accounted for approximately three-fourths of operating horsepower; the company also describes its footprint as diversified across regions rather than dependent on production activity in any one area.[17]
The company identifies regional headquarters in Greeley, Colorado (Rockies), Midland, Texas (Permian), and Victoria, Texas (Eagle Ford), as well as its corporate headquarters in Houston.[18] The FY2025 reporting reviewed does not provide regional revenue percentages or an employee-by-region breakdown.[17] [17][18][18]
Business segments
Archrock reports two business segments. Contract operations provides natural-gas compression services, including designing, sourcing, owning, installing, operating, servicing, repairing and maintaining compression equipment. For the six months ended June 30, 2026, the segment generated $660.1 million in revenue, approximately 88.6% of company revenue.[6][19]
Aftermarket services supports customer-owned compression equipment through operations and maintenance, overhauls, reconfiguration, and sales of parts and components. It generated $84.9 million in revenue during the same period, approximately 11.4% of company revenue.[2][19] [6][19][2][19][19]
Company history
Archrock’s corporate history traces its roots to South Coast Gas Company in 1954, through predecessor businesses including Tidewater Compression Services and Universal Compression.[20] In 2007, Universal Compression and Hanover Compressor combined under a common parent, Exterran Holdings.[21]
In 2015, Exterran Holdings spun off its international operations and global fabrication businesses as Exterran Corporation, and the remaining company was renamed Archrock, Inc.[21][22] Archrock consolidated its ownership of Archrock Partners in 2018, then expanded its compression fleet through the 2019 acquisition of substantially all of Elite Compression’s assets.[23][24]
In 2024, Archrock acquired Total Operations and Production Services, adding approximately 580,000 horsepower of compression capacity.[25] [21][25][20][22][23][24]
