Products & services
Arkema’s product portfolio includes high-performance polymers such as PVDF, PPS, PEI, PI, PEKK and PEEK, as well as polyamides and elastomers marketed under names including Rilsan® PA11, Rilsan® Clear Rnew®, Rilsan® HT, PA12 and Pebax® Rnew®. The company identifies Rilsan® PA11 and Pebax® Rnew® as bio-based materials, and Rilsan® Clear Rnew® as a bio-based transparent polyamide. Its applications include batteries, semiconductors, sports and consumer goods, and 3D printing. Arkema also offers Sensio™ biosurfactants.[8][9][10]
Other named offerings include Sartomer® UV/LED photocure specialty resins for coatings and fluorospecialties for thermal-management applications. Arkema’s adhesives and sealants portfolio includes high-performance products and construction-sector ranges. Through Agiplast, it regenerates high-performance and specialty polymers, offers recycled grades marketed as Rilsan®, Rilsamid® and Pebax®, and supports customers with eco-design of products using recycled materials. Product-support services include safety data sheets in about 40 languages through the MyArkema portal and QuickFDS, and 24/7 emergency response in 70 languages.[10][11][12][13]
In 2025, Arkema reported sales mix by its then-current segments of 38% Advanced Materials, 30% Adhesive Solutions, 24% Coating Solutions and 8% Intermediates. These are segment shares of company sales, not individual-product contributions; the reporting structure changed in 2026, when Intermediates was discontinued and most operations transferred to Primary Materials.[14][15] [8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15]
Geographic presence
In 2025, Arkema reported operations in 55 countries, 154 industrial sites and approximately 20,700 employees. Its sites were distributed across Europe (65), North America (44), Asia (32) and the rest of the world (13). The company also reported three R&D hubs; its locations directory covers plants, research centers and offices across its country network.[16][2][17]
Arkema’s 2025 sales were distributed by region as follows: North America 34%, Europe 33%, Asia 28% and the rest of the world 5%. These are regional shares; the reported geographic breakdown does not provide country-level revenue figures.[18][19] [16][18][2][17][19]
Business segments
Arkema’s latest available segment reporting for the first half of 2026 presents four segments. By approximate share of group sales, **Advanced Materials** was the largest at 36.4% (€1,678.3 million), followed by **Adhesive Solutions** at 30.5% (€1,406.5 million), **Coating Solutions** at 17.6% (€813.5 million), and **Primary Materials** at 15.1% (€695.5 million). Shares are calculated from segment sales against group sales of €4,609.6 million.[20][21][22][23][24]
Arkema groups Adhesive Solutions, Advanced Materials and Coating Solutions within Specialty Materials, alongside Primary Materials. The segments focus respectively on adhesive and sealant technologies; high-performance polymers and performance additives; coating resins and related materials; and primary and intermediate materials, including acrylic monomers.[25][26][27][28]
Segment labels and mix can differ across reporting presentations. Arkema’s 2025 results also showed a legacy breakdown of Advanced Materials (38% of sales), Adhesive Solutions (30%), Coating Solutions (24%) and Intermediates (8%); its newer grouping showed approximately 38%, 30%, 17% and 15%, respectively, for Advanced Materials, Adhesive Solutions, Coating Solutions and Primary Materials. These figures reflect different segment mappings and should not be combined.[16][29] [20][21][22][23][24][16][29][25][26][27][28]
Company history
Arkema was created in October 2004 during the reorganization of Total’s Chemicals business and became an independent, publicly listed company on May 18, 2006.[30][31]
The company expanded through acquisitions, including Coatex in 2007 and Dow Chemical’s North American acrylic monomers and emulsions business in 2010. It entered adhesives in a major way by acquiring Bostik in 2015, followed by the acquisition of sealants maker Den Braven in 2016.[30][32]
In 2021, Arkema completed the sale of its PMMA business, advancing its shift toward specialty materials. It further expanded its adhesives activities with the 2022 acquisition of Ashland’s Performance Adhesives business, and in 2023 announced the acquisition of a controlling stake in PI Advanced Materials, broadening its high-performance polymers portfolio.[33][34][35] [30][31][32][33][34][35]
