Company history

Aveanna was formed on March 16, 2017, when PSA Healthcare and Epic Health Services completed a merger. The combination brought together two pediatric home-health businesses; the launch announcement named Rod Windley as executive chairman, Tony Strange as CEO, and Jeff Shaner as COO.[33][34]

In 2021, Aveanna expanded into home health and hospice by acquiring Doctor’s Choice in April and Comfort Care in December.[35][36] The company began trading on Nasdaq as AVAH on April 29, 2021, and completed its IPO on May 3.[37][38]

In December 2022, Jeff Shaner succeeded Tony Strange as CEO.[39] Aveanna continued expanding its pediatric home-care operations through the 2025 acquisition of Thrive Skilled Pediatric Care, completed June 2, and the 2026 acquisition of Family First Homecare, also completed June 2.[40] [33]
