BancFirst Corporation is an Oklahoma-based financial holding company whose principal subsidiary, BancFirst, provides commercial banking to individuals and businesses, particularly small- and medium-sized businesses. Its services include commercial, agricultural, energy, real-estate and consumer lending, deposit accounts, cash management, trust services and correspondent banking.[1]

The company’s footprint is centered on Oklahoma, where BancFirst had 109 locations in 62 communities at year-end 2025; it also operates in the Dallas–Fort Worth area through Pegasus Bank and Worthington Bank.[4] BancFirst Corporation was incorporated in 1984 and adopted its current name in 1988.[4] Its stated core values include asset quality, customer care, integrity, community leadership, employee development and profitability.[5]

For the year ended December 31, 2025, BancFirst reported net interest income of $490.5 million and net income of $240.6 million; total assets were $14.8 billion at year-end.[6][7] In its latest 2026 interim reporting, total assets were $15.08 billion at June 30, 2026.[8] [1]

Products & services

BancFirst offers commercial and retail banking products through its metropolitan and community banks and specialty units. Its services include deposit accounts, commercial and consumer loans, small-business lending, residential mortgages, trust services, securities brokerage, electronic banking, and insurance.[9][10]

Personal banking options include checking accounts with debit cards, mobile deposit, and online and mobile banking, as well as consumer loans, credit cards, and fixed-rate, HUD Section 184, and refinance mortgages.[11] Business lending includes working-capital, term, construction, real-estate, and energy loans. Business online banking supports account activity and balance review, transfers, ACH and wire payments, data export, and alerts; merchant services include point-of-sale and mobile processing, e-commerce, invoicing, recurring payments, and check conversion.[15]

In fiscal 2025, NSF and overdraft fees accounted for 15.8% of noninterest income, while debit-card usage and interchange fees accounted for 13.6%.[18] [9]

Geographic presence

BancFirst’s geographic footprint is concentrated in Oklahoma, where its lending is primarily focused. As of Q2 2026, it operated 109 banking locations serving 62 Oklahoma communities, with metropolitan operations in Oklahoma City and Tulsa and community-bank operations elsewhere in the state.[19]

The company also operates in Texas: Pegasus Bank serves the Dallas Metroplex through three locations, while Worthington Bank has three Fort Worth Metroplex locations and one each in Arlington and Denton. These Texas markets are reported as separate operating segments from BancFirst’s Oklahoma metropolitan and community banks.[21][9] [19]

Business segments

BancFirst Corporation reports seven business units in its 2025 segment disclosure. Five are geographically defined banking units offering traditional commercial and retail lending and deposit services: BancFirst Metropolitan Banks serves the Oklahoma City and Tulsa metro areas (24.3% of consolidated net interest income); BancFirst Community Banks serves other Oklahoma communities (56.5%); Pegasus serves the Dallas metro area (10.7%); Worthington serves Arlington, Fort Worth and Denton, Texas (5.0%); and ABOK serves Oklahoma communities outside the Oklahoma City and Tulsa metros (0.4%). ABOK was acquired in November 2025, so its 2025 contribution reflects only the post-acquisition period.[10][22]

Other Financial Services comprises specialty businesses including guaranteed small-business lending, residential mortgage lending, trust services, securities brokerage, electronic banking and insurance; it contributed 1.2% of consolidated net interest income. Executive, Operations, Support and Eliminations covers management, operational support and corporate functions, plus consolidation eliminations; it contributed 1.8%. Shares are approximate, calculated from each unit’s 2025 interest income less interest expense divided by consolidated net interest income. The filing presents these as business units in one management/CODM segmentation, rather than separate parallel segment breakdowns.[10] [10]

Company history

BancFirst Corporation’s origins trace to bank-building efforts led by H.E. “Gene” Rainbolt, who began acquiring Oklahoma banks in 1967. The holding company was organized in 1984 and renamed BancFirst Corporation in 1988. On April 1, 1989, it consolidated 12 subsidiary banks into a single state-chartered bank, BancFirst.[1][24]

The company expanded through acquisitions, including Lawton-based AmQuest Financial in 1998, Dallas-based Pegasus Bank in 2019, and Worthington National Bank in 2022.[25] In 2017, David E. Rainbolt became executive chairman and David R. Harlow succeeded him as president and CEO.[29][30] More recently, BancFirst acquired American Bank of Oklahoma in November 2025 and merged it into BancFirst in February 2026.[31][32] [1]
