BANK MILLENNIUM

Updated

Overview

Bank Millennium is a Polish banking group offering services to retail and business customers. Its activities include banking and mortgage banking, leasing, factoring, brokerage, capital-market operations and investment-fund management, delivered through a nationwide branch network and digital channels.[1][2] The bank states that its mission is to consistently implement its development programme and strengthen its market position.[3]

Founded in 1989, the institution adopted the Bank Millennium name in 2003.[4] In the first half of 2026, the Group had more than 6,800 employees and reported PLN 3,308 million in total operating income and PLN 708 million in net profit.[5] [1]

Products & services

Bank Millennium’s retail offering includes current accounts such as Konto 360° and Millennium 360°, payment and credit cards, mortgage and cash loans, savings and deposits, investments, and electronic banking. Its Konto 360° Junior account is aimed at younger customers; in 4Q25, 84% of junior-account acquisitions were digital.[8] The mobile app supports loan holidays and mortgage overpayments, and offers motor, travel and property insurance, currency exchange, multi-currency cards and overseas eSIM purchases. Payment capabilities include BLIK purchases, ATM withdrawals and transfers to mobile numbers, as well as Google Pay and Apple Pay; BLIK contactless payments require NFC and an Android phone.[15]

For business and corporate customers, products include accounts and deposits, payments, cash services, financing, factoring, leasing, trade finance, guarantees, export and import support, treasury and custody services. Millenet for Corporate provides online banking; Millenet Link automates data exchange with company accounting and financial systems, including payment orders, statements, balances and factoring information.[22] In FY2025, Retail Banking accounted for PLN 5,196m of reported operating income and Corporate Banking for PLN 1,127m; these are business-segment contributions, not product-level shares.[26] [8]

Geographic presence

Bank Millennium’s operating footprint is concentrated in Poland. At 31 December 2025, the bank reported 590 branches in Poland and 7,023 employees in Poland (6,906 full-time equivalents); the disclosures reviewed do not provide a regional breakdown of branches or employees.[27]

The group’s registered office is in Warsaw. Its FY2025 subsidiary disclosures locate group companies in Warsaw, Wrocław, and Świebodzin; the reviewed subsidiary lists show no foreign-headquartered operating subsidiary.[28][29] The reports reviewed do not disclose revenue by country or region, so geographic revenue shares cannot be stated.[28][29] [27]

Business segments

Bank Millennium’s 2025 segment reporting identifies Retail Banking, Corporate Banking, Treasury, ALM & Other, and FX mortgage. Retail Banking serves mass-market and affluent customers, small companies and individual entrepreneurs, offering products such as mortgages, consumer credit, cards, deposits, funds, insurance and savings products. Corporate Banking serves SMEs, large corporations and public-sector customers with business, investment and cash-management banking, treasury products, leasing and factoring. Treasury, ALM & Other includes Treasury investments, brokerage, interbank transactions and debt securities not assigned to other segments. FX mortgage separately reports the results and costs of the legacy foreign-currency mortgage portfolio; the report describes this as a presentation-only split rather than an organizational change.[30]

For 2025, segment operating income was PLN 5,196,481 thousand for Retail Banking (about 74.9% of total), PLN 1,126,519 thousand for Corporate Banking (16.2%), PLN 486,338 thousand for Treasury, ALM & Other (7.0%), and PLN 127,660 thousand for FX mortgage (1.8%). Shares are approximate, calculated against total operating income of PLN 6,936,998 thousand; rounded figures sum to 99.9%.[26] The report says operating segments reflect the structure used by management to assess results and allocate resources, and that it does not provide a separate geographic breakdown because operations outside Poland are insignificant in scale.[35] [30]

Company history

Bank Millennium traces its origins to Bank Inicjatyw Gospodarczych (BIG SA), founded in 1989; it listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in 1992. In 1997, BIG merged with Bank Gdański to form BIG Bank Gdański, and in 1998 launched the Millennium retail brand in partnership with Portugal’s Banco Comercial Português (BCP), which became its strategic shareholder.[4][36]

Following a 2001 merger with BIG BANK SA, the bank adopted the name Bank Millennium SA in January 2003. A major later expansion came in 2019, when it acquired Euro Bank: the purchase was completed in May, followed by the legal merger in October and operational integration in November.[37] [4]
