BRIDGEPOINT GROUP

Updated

Overview

Bridgepoint Group plc is an international alternative asset manager investing in and developing businesses across private equity, infrastructure, credit and secondaries. Its private-equity strategies span mid-market, lower-mid-market and small-cap companies, and its geographic reach includes Europe, North America and Asia.[1] The company describes its purpose as being “a force for good” by driving growth and building value through connections between people, capital, ideas and opportunity.[4]

For the six months ended 30 June 2026, Bridgepoint reported $97.3 billion in assets under management and £254.4 million of underlying management and other income, including catch-up fees (£232.7 million excluding them). Its June 2026 acquisition presentation cited more than 315 investment professionals across 18 offices worldwide.[5][6] [1]

Products & services

Bridgepoint Group’s products are investment strategies and funds. Its private-equity offering includes Bridgepoint Europe, focused on European mid-market buyouts, and Bridgepoint Development Capital, focused on lower-mid-market buyouts and growth investments. The company describes typical target company values of more than €300 million for Bridgepoint Europe and €100 million–€300 million for Development Capital. It also lists separate Bridgepoint Growth funds.[7]

Credit strategies include direct lending, syndicated debt and credit opportunities. Direct lending provides flexible financing, primarily senior-secured loans, for mid-market companies’ growth, acquisitions and refinancing; credit opportunities invest through negotiated private transactions or secondary markets. In August 2026, Bridgepoint announced that its fourth direct-lending fund, BDL IV, closed at €5.1 billion and was more than 40% invested, primarily in first-lien senior-secured loans.[3]

Through Energy Capital Partners, the infrastructure offering targets electricity and sustainability-related assets, including power generation, renewables and storage, environmental infrastructure, and assets supporting sustainability, efficiency or reliability. ECP VI reached an $8.1 billion final close in August 2026.[13]

At year-end 2025, fee-paying assets under management were €16.2 billion in private equity, €10.5 billion in credit and €12.1 billion in infrastructure—approximately 41.8%, 27.1% and 31.2% of the €38.8 billion total, respectively. These figures describe assets under management, not revenue or profit shares; the company’s reported results do not give revenue percentages by strategy in the sources reviewed.[16] [9]

Geographic presence

Bridgepoint Group describes its investment activity as global, with a particular focus on Europe and the US. Its client-services presence expanded from three offices in Europe to 11 globally over five years; the FY2025 report does not identify all 11 locations in that passage.[19][20]

The FY2025 report lists registered-office addresses in London, Edinburgh, Luxembourg, Guernsey, Stockholm, Frankfurt, Paris, Shanghai, Amsterdam and Madrid. These are registered-office addresses and do not, by themselves, establish the full set of active operating locations.[21] The materials do not provide a country or regional breakdown of company revenue or employees. [19]

Business segments

Bridgepoint reports Private Equity, Credit, Infrastructure and Central as segments within “Total Core,” with Other and Exceptional and adjusted items shown separately. Its three investment segments comprise fund management and investment activities focused respectively on private equity, credit and infrastructure funds. Credit focuses on corporate credit across the capital structure, including Syndicated Debt, Direct Lending and Credit Opportunities; Infrastructure focuses on electricity and sustainability infrastructure.[22]

For 2025, the investment segments contributed approximately 49.5% Private Equity, 13.4% Credit and 28.3% Infrastructure, based on each segment’s reported total operating income divided by Group total operating income of £629.9m. These are operating-income shares, not pure fee-revenue shares. The reported figures also include Central (£17.8m; about 2.8%), Other (£0.6m; about 0.1%) and Exceptional and adjusted items (£37.1m; about 5.9%).[23] [22]

Company history

Bridgepoint’s origins date to 1984, when its European buyout strategy operated within NatWest as NatWest Equity Partners. In 1999 NatWest agreed to sell the business to its management; it became independent and was renamed Bridgepoint Capital in 2000.[24]

In 2009, Bridgepoint established its lower-mid-market investment strategy, Bridgepoint Development Capital, following the transfer of Hermes Private Equity’s direct-investment team and funds.[24][27] It expanded into private credit by completing the acquisition of EQT Credit in 2020, then listed on the London Stock Exchange Main Market in July 2021.[28][29]

A leadership transition followed in 2023–24: Raoul Hughes was named Group CEO in 2023, and Tim Score succeeded founder William Jackson as Chair on 1 July 2024. In August 2024, Bridgepoint completed its acquisition of US energy-infrastructure investor Energy Capital Partners, extending the firm’s investment platform.[30] [24]
