Company history
Brookfield Renewable Partners L.P.’s immediate predecessor was the Brookfield Renewable Power Fund, which had operated since 1999. The partnership was launched on November 28, 2011, combining that fund with renewable-power assets from Brookfield Renewable Power Inc.[15] Brookfield’s wider corporate history dates to 1899, though that is an antecedent of Brookfield, not the founding date of the renewable partnership.[16]
Sachin Shah became chief executive officer in 2015, and the partnership was using the name Brookfield Renewable Partners L.P. by 2016.[17][18] In 2020, it completed its merger with TerraForm Power and introduced Brookfield Renewable Corporation as an alternative corporate structure for investors.[19] In 2025, it completed the acquisition of Geronimo Power and reported completing its acquisition of Neoen.[20][21] [15][16][17][18][19][20][21][15][16][17][18][19]
