Company profile

Celldex Therapeutics, Inc.

Updated

Overview

Celldex Therapeutics, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company focused on discovering and developing therapeutic antibodies that engage the immune system or affect disease-related pathways. Its research targets severe inflammatory, allergic, autoimmune and other diseases, with a particular focus on mast-cell-mediated conditions; its pipeline includes barzolvolimab, an antibody targeting KIT.[1][2] The company describes its purpose as improving the lives of patients with severe disease, and characterizes its work as “pioneering new horizons in immunology.” [1][3]

Celldex’s listed U.S. operations include headquarters in Hampton, New Jersey, and facilities in Fall River, Massachusetts, and New Haven, Connecticut.[4][5] It reported approximately $1.5 million in revenue for fiscal 2025; a third-party estimate lists 198 employees as of December 31, 2025.[6][7] [1]

Products & services

Celldex Therapeutics’ disclosed product candidates are investigational medicines. Barzolvolimab is a humanized monoclonal antibody that binds and inhibits KIT, blocking stem cell factor (SCF) binding and KIT dimerization to reduce mast-cell activity and numbers. Its clinical development includes chronic spontaneous urticaria, cold urticaria, symptomatic dermographism and atopic dermatitis; the company also reported discontinuing its prurigo nodularis study after it did not meet its primary and key secondary endpoints.[8]

CDX-622 is an investigational bispecific designed to neutralize thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) while depleting mast cells through SCF starvation. The company reported Phase 1a testing in healthy volunteers and an open-label Phase 1 proof-of-mechanism study in mild-to-moderate asthma.[11] [8]

Geographic presence

Celldex Therapeutics’ listed physical footprint is in the U.S. Northeast. Its locations include Hampton, New Jersey, for corporate and research activities; Fall River, Massachusetts, for manufacturing and research; and New Haven, Connecticut, for clinical and research work. The company also lists an operations location in Needham, Massachusetts. Its disclosed facilities include office and laboratory space in Hampton, Fall River, and New Haven; a larger New Haven lease was scheduled to begin in 2026, with a relocation of existing operations planned that year.[12]

Celldex conducts clinical trials outside the United States; a described Phase 3 study involved about 75 sites across seven countries, though the cited information does not identify those countries. The company reported no product revenue through December 31, 2025, and the available revenue disclosures do not provide a geographic breakdown.[15] [12]

Business segments

Celldex Therapeutics reports one operating and reportable segment: the development, manufacturing and commercialization of novel therapeutics for human health care. Its disclosed business focus includes therapeutics based on mast-cell biology for inflammatory, allergic, autoimmune and other diseases; its research and development programs are not reported as separate business segments.[19][20]

This single segment encompasses the company’s consolidated operating activity—effectively 100% of its business—but Celldex does not disclose a separate segment contribution percentage or segment-level revenue, profit or asset allocation. It reports certain research and development expenses by program, which are program-level disclosures rather than segment results.[19][21] [19]

Company history

Celldex was incorporated in May 2003 as MabVac, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Medarex, and reincorporated under the name Celldex Therapeutics, Inc. in April 2004.[22] In March 2008, Celldex merged with an AVANT Immunotherapeutics subsidiary, with the public-company survivor adopting the Celldex Therapeutics name that October.[23] Co-founder Anthony S. Marucci became president and chief executive officer in September 2008.[24]

Celldex completed its acquisition of CuraGen in October 2009, adding the company as a wholly owned subsidiary.[25] In November 2016, it acquired Kolltan Pharmaceuticals.[26] That year, Celldex also discontinued the Phase 3 ACT IV trial of rindopepimut after a review indicated it was unlikely to meet its primary overall-survival endpoint.[27]

In November 2023, Celldex reported that barzolvolimab met the primary efficacy endpoint in a Phase 2 study of chronic spontaneous urticaria; global Phase 3 trials began in July 2024.[28] In September 2026, the company announced that both Phase 3 trials met their primary and key secondary endpoints at Week 12 and said it planned to submit a biologics license application in 2027.[29] [22]
