Overview
Champion Homes, Inc. is a North American factory-built housing company focused on designing, manufacturing and selling manufactured homes, modular homes, park-model RVs, accessory dwelling units and modular buildings. In addition to its core homebuilding activities, it provides installation and set-up construction services, operates a factory-direct retail business, and runs transportation services through Star Fleet Trucking. Its products serve single-family, multi-family and hospitality end markets and are sold across the United States and western Canada.[1][2]
The company describes itself as one of the largest homebuilders in North America and says it believes everyone deserves a place to call home. It has more than 70 years of homebuilding experience and emphasizes quality-built, sustainable and innovatively designed homes and modular structures produced in an environmentally friendly factory setting.[3][4][5] Champion Homes employs approximately 9,000 people and operates 46 manufacturing facilities across the United States and western Canada, along with 83 retail locations in the United States; fiscal 2024 net sales were approximately $2.0 billion.
Products & services
Champion Homes’ product lineup centers on factory-built housing and related structures, including manufactured homes, modular homes, park model RVs, cabins, accessory dwelling units (ADUs), and commercial structures sold under brands such as Champion Homes, Genesis Homes, Skyline Homes, Athens Park, Shore Park, Silvercrest, Titan Homes, Moduline and SRI Homes.[7] Most of the homes it builds are single-family, multi-section ranch-style units, but the company also produces two-story and single-section homes as well as multifamily formats such as townhomes, apartments, duplexes and triplexes.[8] Its single-family homes generally range from 400 to 4,000 square feet and typically include two to four bedrooms, a living room or family room, a dining room, a kitchen and usually two full bathrooms.[9] Champion also offers Genesis homes with site-built-style features such as porches and garages, designed to qualify for mortgage programs with terms similar to traditional mortgages for builder/developer projects.[10]
Technically, most of Champion’s manufactured products are built to the federal HUD code, which covers structural integrity, fire safety, wind loads, thermal protection and ventilation; its modular homes are built to applicable state and local building codes, and its park model RVs are built to ANSI standards.[11] On its product pages, Champion says manufactured homes are offered in single-section and multi-section configurations and range from about 500 to more than 2,300 square feet, while modular homes are prefabricated in modules for final on-site assembly.[12][13] Its ADUs are described as self-contained units with their own entrance, kitchen, bathroom and sleeping area; an example model, the ADU 2321B, is listed at 485 square feet with one bedroom and one bathroom.[14][15] Park model RV examples sold under Athens Park and Shore Park are listed at roughly 386 to 399 square feet and may include features such as lofts, kitchen islands, fireplaces and entertainment centers.[16][17][18] Champion also markets energy-efficient homes that it says can use heating and cooling systems 20% to 30% more efficient than standard homes, along with high insulation, low-E windows and a tight building envelope.[19]
Related service offerings include company-owned retail sales centers under the Regional Homes, Titan Factory Direct and Champion Homes Center brands; construction services to install and set up factory-built homes; Star Fleet Trucking transportation services for manufactured homes and RVs; and Champion Financing, which offers dealer floor-plan and consumer retail lending products.[20][21][22][23] As a product-mix indicator, approximately 88% of the company’s U.S. manufacturing sales in fiscal 2024 came from homes built to the HUD code.
Geographic presence
Champion Homes’ geographic footprint is concentrated in North America, with operations and sales primarily in the United States and a smaller presence in Canada. The company reports separate U.S. and Canadian factory-built housing operations, and it states that Canadian operations represented approximately 4% of consolidated sales in fiscal 2025, 5% in fiscal 2024, and 6% in fiscal 2023, indicating that the U.S. is its dominant sales geography [25].
Its manufacturing network comprised 48 facilities across 20 U.S. states and three western Canadian provinces as of March 29, 2025 [26]. In the U.S., facilities were located in Alabama, Arizona, California, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, Nebraska, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, and Wisconsin; in Canada, facilities were located in Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan [27]. The company also operated 72 company-owned retail sales centers across the United States [28].
The principal executive offices are in Troy, Michigan [29]. The company had approximately 9,000 employees as of fiscal 2025, including about 770 workers at its Canadian manufacturing facilities [25].
Business segments
Champion Homes reports two official reportable segments, generally determined by geography: U.S. Factory-built Housing and Canadian Factory-built Housing. The U.S. Factory-built Housing segment includes the company’s manufacturing and retail housing operations in the United States, while the Canadian Factory-built Housing segment covers its factory-built housing operations in western Canada. Corporate/Other is disclosed separately but is not a reportable segment; it includes transportation operations, financing activities, corporate costs incurred for all segments, and intersegment eliminations [30][31].
Based on FY2025 net sales, U.S. Factory-built Housing contributed about 95% of consolidated net sales ($2.36 billion of $2.48 billion), Canadian Factory-built Housing about 4% ($94.2 million), and Corporate/Other about 1% ($31.4 million). In practice, this means the company’s reported segment mix is dominated by its U.S. housing operations, with a much smaller Canadian housing business, while financing and transportation are not presented as standalone reportable segments [32][30].
Company history
Champion Homes traces its roots to 1953, when the business was founded as a single manufacturing facility in Dryden, Michigan.[33] After decades of growth under the Champion name, the company underwent a major restructuring in 2010, when Champion Enterprises Holdings, LLC completed the acquisition of the domestic and international operations of Champion Enterprises, Inc. out of bankruptcy.[34]
The business expanded again in the mid-2010s; Champion said a 2016 acquisition added multiple manufacturing plants and modular home brands, and in 2017 it highlighted that expansion by relaunching the All American Homes brand.[35] A defining milestone followed in 2018, when Skyline Corporation and Champion Home Builders closed their business combination to create Skyline Champion Corporation.[36] The company later adopted its current name, Champion Homes, Inc., on August 5, 2024.
