CIRCLE INTERNET GROUP INC

Overview

Circle Internet Group Inc. is a financial-technology and digital-asset infrastructure company founded in 2013. Its business focuses on blockchain-based payments and infrastructure for what it describes as an “internet financial system”; its stated mission is to raise global economic prosperity through the frictionless exchange of value.[1][2]

Circle’s core products include USDC and EURC, digital payment stablecoins designed to be redeemable one-for-one for U.S. dollars and euros, as well as Circle Mint for institutional issuance, redemption and transfers, and blockchain infrastructure such as its Cross-Chain Transfer Protocol.[3] Its international reach includes Circle Mint services in more than 185 countries.[4] As scale indicators, Circle reported $1.395 billion in total revenue and reserve income for the six months ended June 30, 2026, and more than 900 employees in its 2025 prospectus.[6] [1]

Products & services

Circle’s digital-asset products include USDC and EURC, payment stablecoins designed to maintain a one-to-one relationship with the U.S. dollar and euro, respectively. Through Circle Mint, eligible institutional customers can mint, redeem, send and receive the tokens, with bank-transfer, interface and API capabilities.[9] Circle also offers USYC, a tokenized money-market fund intended primarily for digital-asset collateral, and cirBTC, a tokenized representation of Bitcoin backed by an equivalent amount of native BTC.[11][12]

Circle’s infrastructure and developer products include Arc, a Layer-1 blockchain for onchain economic activity, and Circle Wallets, programmable wallet infrastructure for integrating user- or developer-controlled wallets into applications across web, mobile and multiple chains. Arc-related tools include App Kits, Circle Contracts for smart-contract deployment and administration, and Agent Stack components such as Agent Wallets and Nanopayments. Circle’s interoperability offerings include CCTP and Gateway, while xReserve enables third-party blockchain developers to deploy USDC-interoperable stablecoins.[13] StableFX is an institutional stablecoin FX product designed for around-the-clock onchain settlement, with smart-contract escrow and configurable settlement options.[17]

For payments, Circle Payments Network (CPN) connects financial institutions, payment providers and enterprises to originate, route and settle stablecoin payments on public blockchains, with compliance and risk controls; described use cases include cross-border and business payments, remittances, payroll and treasury.[18][19] In Q2 2026, the company reported that reserve income accounted for the large majority of revenue and that other products contributed 4.8% of revenue; for the first half of 2026, other products contributed 5.4%. The reported revenue categories do not allocate revenue to individual named products.[20] [9]

Geographic presence

Circle Internet Group’s principal executive office is at One World Trade Center, 87th Floor, New York, New York. In a September 2024 announcement, the company described an employee presence of nearly 1,000 people across 36 U.S. states and 14 countries, naming New York, Berlin, Boston, Dublin, London, Paris, Singapore, the San Francisco Bay Area, São Paulo and Taipei. That is a dated company-reported footprint, not a current headcount or a breakdown by location.[21][22]

For FY2025, Circle reported one consolidated reportable segment, and its filing does not disclose revenue by country or region. Its disclosed non-U.S. affiliate and regulatory footprint includes Abu Dhabi Global Market, Bermuda, France (for the EEA), Singapore and the UK. The filing describes relevant permissions or activities involving money services in Abu Dhabi, USYC issuance and Circle Mint accounts in Bermuda, digital-asset services and USDC/EURC issuance in the EEA through its French affiliate, payment and digital-payment-token services in Singapore, and electronic-money issuance in the UK.[23] [21]

Business segments

Circle reports **one operating and reportable segment**, covering the company as a whole. Management assesses consolidated net income and expenses to make operating decisions, allocate resources, and evaluate performance; the company does not report revenue or results across multiple business segments.[23]

For FY 2025, reserve income from reserves backing USDC and EURC represented approximately **96.0% of total revenue**, while other products contributed approximately **4.0%**. These are revenue-source contributions within the single segment, not separate reportable segments.[31] The company also describes platform areas spanning Arc blockchain infrastructure, digital assets and services, and applications; these are product/platform areas rather than reported segments.[32][33] [23]

Company history

Circle Internet Group was founded in 2013 by Jeremy Allaire and Sean Neville. Its first consumer app entered beta in March 2014, enabling users in the United States and United Kingdom to buy bitcoin with cards. In 2015, Circle expanded its consumer payments offering and became the first company granted a New York BitLicense.[34][35]

In 2018, Circle acquired cryptocurrency exchange Poloniex and launched USD Coin (USDC) with Coinbase through the CENTRE consortium. Circle later shifted away from consumer payments: it wound down Circle Pay in 2019 to focus on stablecoins and related infrastructure, while Poloniex spun out as a separate company. Co-founder Sean Neville stepped down as co-CEO at the end of 2019.[36]

Circle introduced its euro-backed stablecoin Euro Coin in 2022. In 2023, Circle and Coinbase ended CENTRE’s standalone governance role, bringing USDC governance and operations in-house at Circle; in 2024, Circle said it was the first global stablecoin issuer to comply with the EU’s MiCA framework. Circle completed its initial public offering in June 2025, and later that year announced Arc, a blockchain designed for stablecoin finance. Its 2026 second-quarter filing records Arc’s public testnet launch in October 2025 and private mainnet launch in May 2026.[43] [34]
