Business segments
CK Infrastructure Holdings reports its portfolio mainly by geography, alongside a set of business activity categories; it does not provide a comparable revenue breakdown by those activities. Its reported activity categories are Energy, Transportation, Water, Waste Management, Waste-to-energy, Household Infrastructure and Infrastructure-related businesses.[5][15]
The activities represented across its markets include electricity and gas distribution, power generation, water and sewerage, transportation infrastructure, waste management and energy-from-waste, household infrastructure, and infrastructure-related businesses such as cement, concrete and aggregates. Examples in its portfolio include UK power and gas distribution and water services; Australian electricity and gas networks and clean energy; European energy-from-waste and sub-metering; and Canadian household infrastructure, power generation, midstream and parking businesses.[12]
For 1H26, CKI reported portfolio contributions by geography, rather than segment revenue: United Kingdom HK$14,784m (about 68%); Power Assets investment HK$5,294m (about 24%); Australia HK$817m (about 4%); Continental Europe HK$477m (about 2%); Canada HK$278m (about 1%); New Zealand HK$91m (under 1%); and Hong Kong and Mainland China negative HK$115m (about negative 1%). Percentages are approximate shares of total contributions of HK$21,626m; the UK figure includes exceptional gains associated with divestments, so it should not be read as a recurring operating contribution.[16][17] [5][12][15][16][17][15][16][17]
Company history
CK Infrastructure Holdings originated as a spin-off of Cheung Kong (Holdings)’ infrastructure and infrastructure-related businesses, announced in June 1996. The company, then named Cheung Kong Infrastructure Holdings Limited, listed in Hong Kong in July 1996.[18][19]
In 1997, CKI acquired a controlling interest in Hongkong Electric Holdings, expanding its energy interests. It subsequently built an international infrastructure portfolio, including investments in Australia and the United Kingdom from 2000 onward, and UK utility acquisitions during the 2000s and early 2010s.[20][21] In 2017, the company changed its English name to CK Infrastructure Holdings Limited.[22] [21][18][19][20][22]
