The company lists seven wholly owned operating mines: New Afton and Rainy River in Canada; Las Chispas and Palmarejo in Mexico; and Rochester, Kensington and Wharf in the United States.[1][2]
Coeur states its purpose as “We Pursue a Higher Standard,” with principles centered on protecting people and the environment, developing quality resources and delivering results through teamwork. The company reported $2.1 billion in revenue for 2025; its current company profile describes a workforce of approximately 4,200.[3][4][5] [1][3][2][4][5]
Products & services
Coeur Mining produces gold, silver and copper. Its operations produce gold and copper at New Afton; gold and silver at Rainy River, Las Chispas, Palmarejo and Rochester; and gold at Kensington and Wharf.[6][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]
Reported product forms include gold concentrate at Kensington, doré at Rochester, and gold electrolytic cathodic sludge at Wharf. At Rochester and Wharf, heap-leach processing uses diluted cyanide solution to recover gold and silver from crushed ore; the recovered material is then converted to doré or cathodic sludge, respectively.[14][15] Coeur also identifies doré at Rainy River, Palmarejo and Las Chispas, and copper concentrate at New Afton.[8][10][9][7]
For the six months ended June 30, 2026, gold, silver and copper sales represented approximately 60.3%, 35.2% and 4.5%, respectively, of consolidated revenue; these percentages are calculated from reported metal sales and total revenue.[16] The reviewed materials do not identify separate external service offerings or specific product-grade specifications.[6][15] [6][14][15][16][16][16][16][7][8][9][10][11][12][13]
Geographic presence
Coeur Mining’s operating footprint spans the United States, Canada and Mexico. Its seven wholly owned operating mines are Rochester in Nevada, Kensington in Alaska and Wharf in South Dakota; New Afton in British Columbia and Rainy River in Ontario; and Las Chispas in Sonora and Palmarejo in Chihuahua. The company also owns the Silvertip exploration project in British Columbia.[6][17]
For the six months ended June 30, 2026, reported revenue by geographic area was $641.1 million from the United States (33.0%), $728.4 million from Mexico (37.5%) and $572.3 million from Canada (29.5%).[18] Coeur’s corporate headquarters are in Chicago, Illinois; the company also identifies Toronto, Ontario, as a corporate-office location. It describes approximately 100 business professionals at its Chicago headquarters.[19][20][21] [6][17][18][18][18][19][20][21][21]
Business segments
Coeur reports seven producing-mine segments—New Afton (gold-copper, British Columbia), Rainy River (gold-silver, Ontario), Las Chispas (silver-gold, Sonora, Mexico), Palmarejo (gold-silver, Chihuahua, Mexico), Rochester (silver-gold, Nevada), Kensington (gold, Alaska) and Wharf (gold, South Dakota)—and the Silvertip polymetallic exploration project in British Columbia. Silvertip focuses on silver, zinc, lead and other metals. “Other” appears in segment tables as a reconciling category, including corporate and other items, rather than as a mine.[22][23][24][25][6]
For the six months ended June 30, 2026, the reported segments’ approximate shares of total revenue were Rainy River 20.7%, Las Chispas 19.6%, Palmarejo 17.9%, Rochester 16.6%, Kensington 10.1%, New Afton 8.8% and Wharf 6.3%; Silvertip and Other reported no revenue. Percentages are calculated from segment revenue divided by the reported total for the period and rounded to one decimal place.[26][27] New Afton and Rainy River entered Coeur’s results following its March 20, 2026 acquisition of New Gold, so these six-month contributions reflect only the post-acquisition period.[28] [22][23][24][25][6][26][27][28]
Company history
Coeur d’Alene Mines Corporation was incorporated on November 1, 1928, and the company traces its history to the Coeur d’Alene mining district in Idaho. Its Rochester mine in Nevada began operating in 1986; the company acquired a full interest in the Kensington project in Alaska in 1995, and Kensington entered commercial production in 2010.[29][30][11][12]
In 2007, Coeur began acquiring properties in Mexico’s Palmarejo district, where operations followed in 2009. In 2011, Mitchell J. Krebs became president and CEO. In 2013, the company converted from an Idaho to a Delaware corporation and adopted the name Coeur Mining, Inc.[10][31][29]
Coeur expanded through acquisitions including the Wharf Gold Mine in 2015, Silvertip in 2017, and Northern Empire Resources in 2018. The Rochester expansion achieved commercial production effective March 31, 2024. Coeur completed its acquisition of SilverCrest, adding the Las Chispas mine in Mexico, in February 2025; it completed the acquisition of New Gold on March 20, 2026.[32][33][34][35][36][28] [28][29][30][11][12][10][31][32][33][34][35][36][37]
