Its Commvault Cloud platform and related offerings are available as SaaS, self-managed software, integrated appliances, and through managed-service partners.[1]

The company serves customers globally, with revenue reported across the Americas and International regions, including Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia-Pacific markets.[2][3] For the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026, Commvault reported revenue of approximately $1.184 billion.[4] Its website lists more than 2,800 employees worldwide, and states its values as “We unlock potential in data, customers and each other.” [5][6] [1]

Products & services

Commvault Cloud is a cyber-resilience platform for protecting and recovering data across on-premises, hybrid-cloud, multicloud, and SaaS environments. It is available as customer-managed software, SaaS, or a hybrid deployment. Its solution packages range from Operational Recovery, with backup, restore, recovery validation, and policy-based cloud storage, to Autonomous Recovery, which adds replication, automated failover and failback, and orchestrated recovery workflows. Cyber Recovery adds threat detection, integrity validation, and clean recovery capabilities.[7]

Other named products include Cleanroom Recovery, an isolated cloud environment for recovery testing, forensics, and recovery operations; HyperScale Grid, a scale-out data-protection solution for enterprise and hybrid-cloud workloads; and HyperScale Flex, designed for petabyte-scale workloads with compute and external storage that can scale independently. Threatscan analyzes backup data for malware and suspicious changes; Air Gap Protect provides logically isolated cloud backup storage; Cloud Rewind supports recovery and automated rebuilding of cloud applications and infrastructure; and Clumio Backtrack enables point-in-time reversion of objects and datasets in Amazon S3, DynamoDB, and Google Cloud Storage.[13]

Services include architecture and design, implementation, automation and orchestration, migration, health assessments, resident support, recovery-readiness assistance, and customer support. The company reports revenue by categories such as term-based and perpetual licenses, SaaS, customer support, and other services, rather than disclosing revenue percentages for individual products.[20] [7]

Geographic presence

In FY2026, Commvault reported revenue of $702.9 million from the Americas and $480.8 million from International, out of total revenue of $1.184 billion. The company defines the Americas as the United States, Canada, and Latin America; International primarily comprises Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Australia, India, Southeast Asia, and China.[24][25]

Commvault’s headquarters are in Tinton Falls, New Jersey. It leases additional offices across North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Northern Africa, and reports a significant presence in India. Its official contact page also lists offices in Leuven, Belgium; Frankfurt, Germany; and Ottawa, Canada.[3][26] [24]

Business segments

Commvault Systems reports one operating and reportable segment, covering the company as a whole; it does not disclose separately named business segments or segment-specific revenue. The CEO serves as the chief operating decision maker and reviews financial information on a consolidated basis. Accordingly, the single reported segment represents 100% of consolidated revenue.[27][28]

The FY2026 annual filing and FY2027 first-quarter filing retain this single-segment reporting. Geographic revenue groupings and revenue categories are supplementary disclosures, not separately reported operating segments.[29] [27]

Company history

Commvault traces its origins to a Bell Labs development group and became an independent company in 1996; its FY2026 annual report confirms that it was incorporated that year.[33][34] In 2006, the company filed for an IPO and a Nasdaq listing under the symbol CVLT.[35]

In 2019, Sanjay Mirchandani became President and CEO, and Commvault acquired data-management company Hedvig.[36] That year it also launched Metallic, its SaaS backup and recovery brand.[39] In 2023, Commvault introduced the Commvault Cloud platform, and in 2024 it completed its acquisition of Clumio.[40][41] [34]
