Products & services

Copa Holdings’ passenger services include Copa Airlines’ hub-and-spoke flights from Panama City and Wingo, the low-cost offering operated by AeroRepública. Copa reported approximately 436 scheduled daily flights to 84 destinations in 32 countries in FY2025, with code-share access to more than 200 additional destinations. Wingo operates a low-cost model for Colombian domestic and selected international point-to-point markets; its ten dedicated Boeing 737-800s are configured with 186 economy seats each.[1][3]

Copa’s Business Class offers upgraded meals, dedicated check-in, VIP lounge access and, for full-fare passengers, bonus miles. Aircraft cabin configurations vary: 737-800s include 16 business-class seats, while 737 MAX 9s have 12 or 16 lie-flat “Dreams” business seats; reported total capacity ranges from 160 to 174 seats across these configurations. Copa also offers ConnectMiles, through which members earn miles from flights, partners and co-branded cards and redeem them for Copa or Star Alliance flights.[10]

Cargo and mail are carried mainly in passenger-aircraft belly space, supplemented by chartered or leased freighter capacity. By September 2025, Copa operated two converted Boeing 737-800 freighters, each with stated capacity of 21.7 tonnes per flight. In FY2025, passenger revenue represented 94.8% of operating revenue, cargo and mail 3.2%, and other operating revenue 2.0%; the company reported $115.7 million in cargo business revenue.[4] [1]

Geographic presence

Copa Holdings’ operations are centered on Panama City, where most of its flights connect through Tocumen International Airport. At December 31, 2025, it operated scheduled flights to 84 cities across North, Central and South America and the Caribbean. Its Wingo subsidiary serves domestic routes in Colombia and international routes to and from Colombia.[21]

For 2025, reported revenue by major operating region was 42.9% from North America, 36.1% from South America, 19.6% from Central America and 1.4% from the Caribbean. These are regional figures, not country-level revenue shares.[23] The company is incorporated in Panama and has its registered office in Panama City; it also reports that a substantial portion of its assets are in Panama and that most flights operate through Tocumen.[24][25] [21]

Business segments

Copa Holdings reports one operating segment, “Air transportation,” which includes passenger, cargo and mail services and accounts for 100% of consolidated operating revenue: $3,546.971 million in FY2025. Copa Airlines, Copa Colombia and Wingo are business operations or brands, not separately reported segments.[26]

As an additional view—not a segment breakdown—FY2025 revenue by point of sale was 42.9% North America, 36.1% South America, 19.6% Central America and 1.4% the Caribbean. Cargo and mail generated $115.7 million, approximately 3.2% of operating revenue, within the air-transportation segment.[27] [26]

Company history

Copa began in 1947 as Compañía Panameña de Aviación, founded by Panamanian investors with support from Pan American World Airways. It initially served domestic routes and expanded internationally in the 1960s. After Pan Am sold its stake in 1971, Panamanian investors controlled the airline until CIASA acquired 99% in 1986; during this period Copa shifted its focus from domestic to international service.[8][29]

Copa developed its Panama City hub in the 1990s. Copa Holdings was incorporated in 1998 to facilitate Continental Airlines’ investment in Copa, and the holding company went public in December 2005; Continental completed its exit in 2008. Also in 2005, Copa acquired a majority stake in Colombian airline AeroRepública. Copa joined Star Alliance in 2012 and launched the low-cost airline Wingo in 2016.[29] [8]
