Overview
Crane Company is an engineering-led manufacturer of engineered industrial products and mission-critical systems. Its two principal businesses are Aerospace & Advanced Technologies, which supplies components, systems, and aftermarket products for commercial and military aerospace, defense, and space, and Process Flow Technologies, which makes fluid-handling equipment such as process and commercial valves, pumps, and related systems. Crane describes its orientation as engineering-led innovation focused on customer needs and reliable, mission-critical products.[1][2][3]
The company serves markets around the world: its products support industries including aerospace, defense, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, water and wastewater, construction, and gas utilities, and it reported operations in 29 countries across five continents. Crane reported 2025 net sales of $2.305 billion and approximately 7,100 employees at year-end. Founded in Chicago in 1855, Crane Company became an independent public company in 2023.[4][5][6][7][8][1] [1][2][3][4][5][6][7][8]
Products & services
Crane Co.’s products are organized around Aerospace & Advanced Technologies (AAT) and Process Flow Technologies (PFT). AAT supplies original-equipment and aftermarket products for commercial and military aerospace, defense, and space, spanning sensing components and systems, electrical power, fluid management, landing and control systems, and microwave solutions. Its product range also includes cabin and modular power offerings; landing systems include brake and landing-gear controls and hydraulic systems.[9][10][11] PFT makes engineered fluid-handling equipment, including process valves and related products for chemical, oil and gas, power and other industries; commercial valves for non-residential construction, industrial and some municipal uses; and pumps and systems for industrial, municipal, commercial and military water and wastewater applications.[12]
Specific products include Crane’s DUO-CHEK® non-slam dual-plate check valve, offered in sizes from 2 to 88 inches, and SAUNDERS® diaphragm-valve bodies designed for cavity-free, bidirectional flow and drainability. Crane Pumps & Systems offers Barnes, Deming and Weinman products; the Weinman Inline Series is specified for flows up to 1,500 gallons per minute and head up to 310 feet.[13][14][15] Filings identify original-equipment products and aftermarket parts, but do not report a distinct service-revenue category.[9][16]
For the six months ended June 2026, PFT process valves and related products generated $602.8 million, or about 42.4% of consolidated net sales; commercial valves contributed $76.1 million (5.4%) and pumps and systems $84.8 million (6.0%). AAT sales included $255.0 million of commercial original equipment (17.9%), $168.7 million of military original equipment (11.9%), $115.6 million of commercial aftermarket products (8.1%), $63.1 million of military aftermarket products (4.4%), and $55.0 million of other sales (3.9%). Percentages are calculated from reported product-line sales and consolidated sales of $1,421.1 million.[17] [9][12][16][17][10][11][13][14][15]

Business segments
Crane Co. reports two operating segments. Aerospace & Advanced Technologies supplies critical components and systems, including original-equipment and aftermarket products, primarily for commercial and military aerospace, defense, and space markets [2]. For the six months ended June 30, 2026, the segment generated $657.4 million, approximately 46% of the two segments’ combined sales [23].
Process Flow Technologies provides engineered fluid-handling equipment for mission-critical applications. Its product lines serve chemical, oil and gas, power, industrial, non-residential construction, municipal, water and wastewater, commercial, and military markets [12]. It generated $763.7 million in the same six-month period, approximately 54% of combined segment sales [23]. These percentages are calculated from the reported segment sales of $1,421.1 million in total and are rounded [23]. Engineered Materials was sold effective January 1, 2025, and is presented as discontinued operations rather than a continuing reportable segment [24]. [2][23][12][23][23][24]
Company history
Founded in Chicago on July 4, 1855, by Richard Teller Crane as the R.T. Crane Brass & Bell Foundry, the company expanded from its foundry roots into metallurgical research and steel valves and fittings by the turn of the 20th century.[8][25] Crane was listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 1936.[26]
From the mid-20th century, acquisitions—including Hydro-Aire in 1951—and further expansion in the 1960s and 1990s extended Crane into aerospace and other industrial markets; it exited its U.S. plumbing businesses during the 1980s.[25] In 2013, Crane completed its acquisition of MEI Conlux Holdings, described at the time as its largest acquisition.[27] On April 3, 2023, Crane Holdings separated into two public companies: Crane Company became independent, while the former parent was renamed Crane NXT.[1][28][29] Crane completed the sale of its Engineered Materials business on January 2, 2025.[30] [1][28][8][25][26][27][29][30]
