Company profile

Crane NXT, Co.

Updated

Overview

Crane NXT is a technology company that develops products and software to secure, detect, and authenticate valuable assets. Its two core businesses are Crane Payment Innovations, which provides payment, sensing, automation, processing, and related technologies, and Security and Authentication Technologies, which protects banknotes, physical products, brands, and digital content. Its products serve government and commercial markets including retail, vending, and gaming, with a global customer base.[1]

For FY2025, Crane NXT reported net sales of $1,656.7 million.[4] The company describes its purpose as giving people confidence in moments that matter; it reports more than 5,000 associates and a workforce spanning over 100 countries.[5][6] Crane NXT became an independent public company in 2023 following its separation from Crane Holdings.[7] [1]

Products & services

Crane NXT’s product portfolio includes banknote security and authentication products, detection and inspection systems, and related services. Its Security and Authentication Technologies offerings protect banknotes, consumer goods, government tax stamps, and industrial products, and include brand, product, and digital-content protection. Its Detection and Traceability Technologies offerings combine electronic equipment and software for payment verification and authentication, product inspection and traceability, automation and processing, field service, and remote diagnostics and productivity support.[8][9]

Crane Payment Innovations’ named products include the SC Advance and Talos banknote validators. CPI describes the SC Advance as achieving 98% or higher first-insertion acceptance and bill stacking in under 2.5 seconds; Talos is described as providing twice the transaction speed and ten times the note coverage of the Series 2000. Its coin equipment includes validators, changers, hoppers, recyclers, and dispensers; the v² falcon validator is rated for up to 10 coins per second and up to 32 denominations, while the v² pelicano accepts up to 20 mixed coins and processes up to four coins per second.[10]

For the second quarter of 2026, product-line sales were $165.5 million in banknotes and security products (33.6% of net sales), $61.2 million in authentication products and solutions (12.4%), $215.3 million in detection and inspection products and solutions (43.7%), and $51.2 million in services (10.4%). Percentages are calculated from the reported product-line sales and total net sales of $493.2 million.[15] [8]

Geographic presence

In FY2025, Crane NXT reported sales by customer destination of $829.3 million in North America (50.1% of total sales), $190.2 million in Western Europe (11.5%), and $637.2 million in the rest of the world (38.5%). The filing does not further break down the latter category by country. Percentages are calculated from reported regional sales and total sales of $1,656.7 million.[16]

As of December 31, 2025, the company reported 13 owned manufacturing facilities: eight in the U.S., three in Europe, and two in other international locations. It also had seven leased manufacturing facilities: four in the U.S. and three in Europe. Non-manufacturing sites included seven owned facilities (six in the U.S. and one in Europe) and 42 leased facilities (14 in the U.S., two in Canada, eight in Europe, and 18 in other international locations).[19]

In an April 2023 announcement, Crane NXT listed manufacturing operations in the U.S., U.K., Mexico, Japan, Switzerland, Germany, Sweden, and Malta. This is a company-reported country list from 2023; the 2025 facility disclosures group sites into broad regions rather than naming individual countries.[21][18] [16]

Business segments

Crane NXT’s latest reported segment structure comprises **Security and Authentication Technologies (SAT)** and **Detection and Traceability Technologies (DTT)**. For the six months ended June 30, 2026, SAT generated $419.5 million in net sales, approximately 47.6% of the company’s $880.9 million total; DTT generated $461.4 million, approximately 52.4%. These percentages are calculated from reported six-month sales and are not full-year figures.[22]

SAT provides security solutions for physical products such as banknotes, consumer goods, tax stamps, and industrial products, as well as brand, authentication, and digital-content protection; its customers include brands, government agencies, and financial institutions.[8] DTT provides electronic equipment and software for payment verification and authentication, product inspection and supply-chain traceability, and automation and processing systems, including related service, remote diagnostics, and productivity software.[9]

The latest full-year report, for 2025, used a different segment presentation—Crane Payment Innovations and SAT—so its segment shares are not directly comparable with the newer SAT/DTT breakdown.[23] [22]

Company history

Crane NXT’s history combines the longer heritage of Crane businesses with the formation of a new public company. Crane Currency traces its origins to Zenas Crane’s paper business, established in Dalton, Massachusetts, in 1801 [24]. In 2013, Crane Co. acquired MEI Conlux Holdings, adding payment technology that became part of the Crane Payment Innovations business [25][26]. On April 3, 2023, Crane Holdings was renamed Crane NXT, Co., and the separation from Crane Company was completed; Crane NXT retained the Payment & Merchandising Technologies businesses and began trading independently on the NYSE the following day [27][21].

After the spin-off, Crane NXT expanded its security and authentication activities through acquisitions: it acquired OpSec Security in May 2024 [28], De La Rue Authentication Solutions in May 2025 [29], and Antares Vision in 2026, adding inspection, detection and track-and-trace capabilities [30][31].
