Company history
DiDi Global’s history began in 2012, when founder Will Wei Cheng established Beijing Xiaoju Science and Technology Group and launched the DiDi Dache app; Zhang Bo was also a co-founder. The company introduced ride-hailing services in 2014. In 2015, it merged with rival Kuaidi and rebranded its app as DiDi Chuxing.[7][23][24][25]
From 2015 through 2018, DiDi broadened beyond taxi and ride-hailing into services including carpooling, autonomous-driving research, energy and vehicle services, international markets, food delivery and bike-sharing. In August 2016, it acquired Uber China.[26][27][28][29][30]
DiDi’s American depositary shares began trading on the New York Stock Exchange on June 30, 2021. Later that year, the company announced it would pursue delisting from the exchange; the delisting followed in June 2022.[31][32][33] [7][23][26][27][24][25][28][29][30][31][32][33]
