Products & services
Dycom’s offerings are primarily contracted infrastructure services rather than branded products. Its communications work spans planning and engineering through construction, maintenance and customer fulfillment for wireline and wireless networks. Activities include placing and splicing fiber, copper and coaxial cable; trenching and directional boring; installing poles, conduit, cabinets, manholes and network closures; connecting customer drops; and maintaining or removing network facilities. Wireless projects include tower, antenna, line, foundation and equipment-pad work, as well as small-cell installation and site testing.[7][2][8][9]
Engineering services include wireline network planning and design through customer premises, wireless macro- and small-cell design, permitting and rights-of-way work, project management, and inspection. Fulfillment and maintenance work includes customer-premises equipment installation, activation and repair, buried-utility locating, and telephone, cable and utility network maintenance. Dycom also provides electric- and gas-utility construction and maintenance.[7][2][10][11][12]
Building Systems, added through the Power Solutions acquisition in the fourth quarter of fiscal 2026, provides electrical, energy-management, security and fire-safety systems for data centers and other critical facilities. In fiscal 2026, contract revenue was $5,450.1 million from Communications (about 98.3% of total) and $95.8 million from Building Systems (about 1.7%). These are segment-level shares; the company does not report revenue percentages for individual services such as fiber construction, wireless work or maintenance.[13][2][14] [7][2][13][14][14][14][14][14][14][8][9][10][11][12]
Geographic presence
Dycom’s operations are concentrated throughout the United States. Its FY2026 Form 10-K says its operating companies served customers in all 50 states from hundreds of field offices, spanning urban and rural markets [3]. The company’s current website lists 39 operating companies and more than 500 locations [15]. Its principal executive offices are in West Palm Beach, Florida [16].
A specific regional operation described in the FY2027 second-quarter filing is Power Solutions, which serves the Greater Washington, D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area [17]. The filings reviewed do not provide revenue percentages by country, state, or region, or an employee breakdown by location. [3][15][16][17][15]
Business segments
Dycom reports two segments: Communications and Building Systems. Communications provides construction, maintenance, and installation services for wireline and wireless networks, including fiber, copper and coaxial systems, towers, antennas and small cells. Its activities also include utility locating and construction, customer-premises equipment, and network engineering, permitting, project management and inspection.[7][18] Communications generated approximately 98% of FY2026 contract revenue, the year ended January 31, 2026.[18]
Building Systems provides electrical, energy-management, security and fire-safety systems for data centers and other critical facilities.[13] It represented approximately 2% of FY2026 contract revenue; the year’s results include Power Solutions only from its December 23, 2025 acquisition.[13] In FY2027 Q2, the latest reported quarter as of October 2, 2026, Communications and Building Systems contributed approximately 80% and 20% of contract revenue, respectively.[19] Dycom previously reported one segment through Q3 FY2026, before the acquisition led to Building Systems being reported separately.[20][21] [19]
Company history
Dycom Industries was incorporated in Florida in 1969. The company’s 2019 annual report describes 19 acquisitions over a 44-month period in the 1990s, a significant phase of expansion.[3][22]
Dycom continued to expand through acquisitions, completing the purchase of Point to Point Communications in 2000 and acquiring wireless services provider NeoCom Solutions in 2010.[23][24] In 2012, it completed the acquisition of telecommunications infrastructure-services subsidiaries from Quanta Services.[25]
In 2024, Dycom announced the acquisition of Black & Veatch’s public-carrier wireless business. That year, CEO Steven E. Nielsen’s planned retirement and the succession of President Daniel S. Peyovich were announced; Peyovich became CEO in November 2024.[26][27][28] In December 2025, Dycom completed its acquisition of Power Solutions, expanding into specialty electrical contracting; its FY2026 annual report also identifies Building Systems as a new revenue segment.[29][30] [3][28][29][30][22][23][24][25][26][27]
