Overview

EchoStar Corporation operates across communications and connectivity, combining wireless, satellite broadband, and pay-TV and streaming services. Its principal offerings include Boost Mobile wireless, Hughes and HughesNet satellite connectivity, and DISH TV and Sling TV video services. The company describes its mission as being “a global connectivity provider for people, enterprises and things.” [1]

EchoStar serves customers in the United States and internationally; its official overview describes operations across a dozen countries. It reported approximately 12,100 employees at December 31, 2025, most based in the United States, and FY2025 revenue of approximately $15.0 billion. Organized in 2007, the company completed its merger with DISH Network in 2023, bringing satellite, wireless, and video businesses together.[6] [1]

Products & services

EchoStar offers DISH TV, a satellite-delivered pay-television service, and SLING TV, an internet-streamed service with live and on-demand programming, including domestic, international, Latino and free ad-supported options. It also provides satellite uplinking, downlinking and transmission services to other pay-TV providers.[11]

Its wireless brands include Boost Mobile and Gen Mobile, offering mobile service and handsets such as iPhone, Samsung and Motorola devices. EchoStar describes its network model as a hybrid mobile network operator: it retained its 5G core while moving customer traffic to AT&T’s network. Boost’s published offers include no-contract plans; its Unlimited plan is listed at $25 per month with 30 GB of premium data.[12]

Broadband and satellite offerings include consumer satellite internet, enterprise and government connectivity, managed network services, satellite capacity, and gateway and terminal equipment. HughesNet describes JUPITER-powered consumer broadband plans with download speeds up to 100 Mbps. EchoStar’s JUPITER 3 satellite adds more than 500 Gbps of fleet capacity and supports broadband, in-flight Wi-Fi, enterprise networking and cellular backhaul.[15] [11]

Geographic presence

EchoStar’s revenue and long-lived assets are concentrated in North America. In 2025, revenue was $14.72 billion in North America (98.1% of total) and $287.7 million in foreign markets (1.9%); the company assigns revenue according to customer billing location. Its North America category includes the United States and its territories, Mexico, and Canada, while its foreign category spans South and Central America, Asia, Africa, Australia, Europe, India, and the Middle East.[17][18]

At December 31, 2025, long-lived assets were $36.97 billion in North America and $38.7 million in foreign markets. Corporate headquarters are in Englewood, Colorado. Other identified facilities include sites in Littleton, Colorado; Germantown, Maryland; El Paso, Texas; Cheyenne, Wyoming; Gilbert, Arizona; and Griesheim, Germany, as well as warehouses or distribution centers in Denver, Spartanburg, and Atlanta. The company also reports having general offices in foreign countries, without listing all locations.[19]

Satellite broadband serves consumer markets in unserved or underserved areas of the Americas, alongside enterprise, aeronautical, and government markets. The company also reports satellites, earth stations, and terrestrial authorizations in foreign jurisdictions. Its filings do not provide country-level revenue or a geographic breakdown of employees.[22][23] [17]

Business segments

EchoStar reported four business segments for FY2025: **Pay-TV**, **Wireless**, **Broadband and Satellite Services**, and **Other**. Approximate shares of FY2025 consolidated external revenue were 64.6%, 25.3%, 9.5%, and 0.7%, respectively; percentages are calculated from segment revenue and may not sum to 100% due to rounding.[24][25]

**Pay-TV** includes DISH TV satellite television and SLING TV streaming, as well as receiver-system design and distribution and broadcast services. **Wireless** consists primarily of wireless services and device sales through Boost Mobile and Gen Mobile. **Broadband and Satellite Services** provides consumer satellite broadband and government and enterprise broadband, satellite, equipment, managed-network, and communications solutions. **Other** principally reflects legacy 5G network and deployment activity, including spectrum-related activity.[6]

In the first half of 2026, the reported external-revenue mix was approximately 62.7% Pay-TV, 26.1% Wireless, 8.7% Broadband and Satellite Services, and 2.5% Other. These figures include operations through June 30, 2026; substantially all of Pay-TV and Other were deconsolidated on that date, so the first-half mix does not represent the subsequent business composition.[28]

EchoStar reported three primary segments in FY2024. For FY2025, it separately reported Other after dividing activities previously included in Wireless, aligning segment reporting with management’s view of the business.[31][32] [24]

Company history

EchoStar was founded in 1980 by Charlie Ergen, Candy Ergen and Jim DeFranco as a distributor of C-band satellite dishes. It launched its first satellite, EchoStar I, in December 1995; service began in 1996, establishing the DISH Network satellite-TV business. In 2008, EchoStar and DISH became separate public companies, with DISH retaining the consumer television business and EchoStar retaining technology and infrastructure assets.[33][34]

EchoStar expanded into satellite broadband and networking by completing its acquisition of Hughes Communications in 2011. Its EchoStar XIX satellite, featuring Hughes JUPITER high-throughput technology, entered service in 2017.[35][36] On December 31, 2023, EchoStar completed its acquisition of DISH Network, bringing the businesses back together under EchoStar. In 2025, it agreed to sell spectrum licenses to AT&T; the transaction closed on July 28, 2026.[10] [38]
