Business segments
IDEXX reports three reportable segments: Companion Animal Group (CAG), Water, and Livestock, Poultry and Dairy (LPD). It also reports an “Other” category, which is not a reportable segment and includes human medical diagnostic products and services and out-licensing. Revenue shares below are approximate portions of consolidated revenue, including other revenues.[27][1][28][29]
CAG serves the companion-animal veterinary market with point-of-care diagnostics, reference laboratory services, veterinary software and services, and diagnostic imaging; it also serves the biomedical research community. CAG contributed about 91.9% of 2025 revenue and 92.1% in the first half of 2026. Water provides testing products and related instrumentation to detect and quantify microbiological parameters in water, including tests for coliforms and E. coli; its shares were about 4.7% and 4.6%, respectively.[2][3][28][29]
LPD provides diagnostic tests, services, and instrumentation related to livestock and poultry health and producer efficiency, as well as milk quality and safety. It represented about 3.1% of 2025 revenue and 2.9% in the first half of 2026. The non-reportable Other category contributed about 0.4% in both periods. Within CAG, IDEXX also disaggregates revenue into diagnostics recurring revenue, diagnostic instruments, and veterinary software, services, and imaging; these are revenue categories, not additional reportable segments.[30][28][29][31] [27][1][28][29][2][3][30][31]
