Overview

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is an aerospace and defense technology company whose products and services support national security and other government missions. Its work includes tactical and broadband communications, integrated mission systems and sensors, satellites and space payloads, intelligence and cyber capabilities, airborne systems, and missile and space propulsion technologies.[1]

The company’s stated mission is to “innovate relentlessly and deliver capability.” L3Harris was formed through the merger of Harris Corporation and L3 Technologies, completed in 2019.[5][6]

For fiscal 2025, L3Harris reported revenue of $21.865 billion. The company’s official international careers page describes a workforce of more than 50,000 employees in 12 countries, and its international page says it serves customers in over 100 countries.[7] [1]

Products & services

L3Harris’s products and services span space, airborne, maritime and cyber missions. Its Space & Mission Systems offerings include airborne intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), passive sensing and targeting, electronic attack, space-based ISR and missile-defense systems, positioning/navigation/timing and weather networks, naval power and sensor systems, autonomous surface and undersea systems, secure mission networks, and air-traffic surveillance. Associated services include system design, integration, modernization, sustainment and in-service support.[10]

Communications & Spectrum Dominance products include software-defined radios, waveforms, satellite terminals, tactical data links, electronic-warfare systems and multispectral EO/IR targeting sensors, as well as counter-UAS systems, helmet-mounted night-vision devices, weapon sights, lasers and rangefinders. For example, the AN/PRC-163 handheld radio supports voice, data and full-motion video, with listed capabilities including 30 MHz–2.6 GHz operation, SATCOM, GPS, encryption and MANET.[16] Missile Solutions products include propulsion, maneuvering and control, and fuzing for missile defense, strategic deterrence and precision-strike weapons, along with space propulsion and power, guidance and targeting systems, and complete weapons systems. Examples include the WESCAM MX-10 airborne EO/IR ISR turret and the RS-25 liquid-hydrogen/liquid-oxygen engine used on NASA’s Space Launch System. The company reports segment-level revenue but does not provide a product-versus-services revenue split or individual product revenue percentages.[22] [10]

Geographic presence

In FY2025, ended January 2, 2026, L3Harris generated $17.051 billion of revenue in the United States and $4.814 billion internationally—approximately 78% and 22% of total revenue, respectively. International revenue is attributed according to the end consumer’s location, including foreign military sales funded through the U.S. Government; no individual foreign country represented more than 5% of total revenue.[28][29] The company says it serves customers in more than 100 countries.[30]

At January 2, 2026, L3Harris had approximately 45,000 employees, with 90% located in the United States. It operated approximately 230 locations across the U.S., Canada, EMEA and APAC, with around 25 million square feet of facilities. Major operations listed include U.S. and Canadian locations, Farnborough in the UK, Brisbane in Australia, and Abu Dhabi in the UAE.[31] Its principal executive offices are in Melbourne, Florida.[38] [28]

Business segments

For fiscal 2025, L3Harris reported four business segments. Communication Systems (CS) focuses on software-defined communications, broadband communications, integrated vision, and public-safety radios and related applications and equipment. Its FY2025 revenue was approximately $5.61 billion, or 25.7% of consolidated revenue.[27]

Integrated Mission Systems (IMS) provides mission systems and integration for intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, passive sensing and targeting, electronic attack, autonomy, power and communications, networks, and sensors. Its FY2025 revenue was approximately $6.56 billion, or 30.0% of consolidated revenue.[2] Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) develops satellites and space payloads, sensors and mission solutions, classified intelligence and cyber capabilities, airborne combat systems, and air-traffic-management networks. Its FY2025 revenue was approximately $6.88 billion, or 31.5% of consolidated revenue.[3]

The segment tables identify the fourth segment as AR. Its focus includes missile solutions and propulsion technologies for strategic defense, missile defense, hypersonic and tactical systems, as well as space propulsion and power. AR generated approximately $2.82 billion in FY2025 revenue, or 12.9% of consolidated revenue.[4] The percentages are based on segment revenue after intersegment eliminations against consolidated revenue of $21.87 billion. The company transferred FOS from IMS to AR effective in the first quarter of 2025, and its FY2025 presentation reflects that realignment.[41][40] [27]

Company history

L3Harris’s history draws on two major predecessor lineages. Harris Automatic Press Company was incorporated and began business in Niles, Ohio, in 1895; the company’s heritage includes a 1929 pilot trainer and a 1996 transmitter used to send a digital-television signal.[42][43] L-3 Communications was formed on April 30, 1997, and named for founders Frank C. Lanza and Robert V. LaPenta.[42]

Harris completed its merger with Exelis on May 29, 2015.[44] Harris and L-3 Communications announced an all-stock merger in 2018; the merger closed on June 29, 2019, and Harris adopted the name L3Harris Technologies.[45][6] In 2023, L3Harris completed its acquisition of Aerojet Rocketdyne.[46] [45]
