Products & services

Taisei’s principal offerings are building construction, civil engineering, real-estate development and engineering services. Building projects include offices, commercial facilities, factories, data centers and hospitals; civil-engineering projects include tunnels, bridges, dams, railways and expressways. Its services also encompass surveying, design, supervision, construction, management and consulting. Real-estate offerings include development and investment, PPP/PFI projects, property management, and condominium development and sales. Engineering services cover planning through maintenance for production and logistics facilities, including pharmaceutical, semiconductor and food facilities.[8][1]

Named solutions include T-ZCB®, an approach to evaluating buildings’ lifecycle CO₂ emissions with the aim of achieving virtually zero emissions, and Zero-Water Building, which uses rainwater to target virtually zero service-water consumption. T-eConcrete®/Carbon-Recycle is a carbon-recycled concrete reported to have a CO₂ balance of −116 to −45 kg/m³; Taisei also identifies T-Near Zero Steel among its low-carbon materials. T-BasisX® is a digital platform using mesh Wi-Fi and IoT to visualize construction-site conditions.[9]

For the fiscal year ended March 31, 2026, reported consolidated net sales comprised ¥679.7 billion from civil engineering, ¥1,248.5 billion from building construction, ¥144.1 billion from real-estate development and ¥16.5 billion from other businesses. These represent approximately 32.5%, 59.8%, 6.9% and 0.8% of total net sales, respectively; percentages are calculated from the reported amounts and reflect business-line mix rather than individual products.[15] [8]

Geographic presence

Taisei’s overseas project sales span East Asia, Southeast Asia and Southwest Asia. In FY2025, overseas project net sales totaled ¥101.1 billion: ¥13.3 billion in East Asia, ¥75.7 billion in Southeast Asia and ¥12.3 billion in Southwest Asia. These figures describe overseas project sales, not regional shares of total company revenue.[16] The reported country groupings are Taiwan; Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand; and India and the Maldives, respectively.[17]

The company’s official corporate-data page lists 12 overseas sales-office locations: Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, India, Cairo, Doha, the Philippines, Singapore, Bangladesh, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Thailand.[2] The reviewed sources do not provide employee counts by region or a geographic breakdown of total company revenue. [16]

Business segments

For FY2025, ended March 31, 2026, Taisei reported net sales across three business segments: Building Construction, ¥1,248.5 billion (approximately 59.8%); Civil Engineering, ¥679.7 billion (approximately 32.5%); and Real Estate Development, ¥160.6 billion (approximately 7.7%). Percentages are calculated from reported total net sales of ¥2,089.0 billion; segment amounts differ slightly from the total due to rounding.[20]

These operating areas are not separately assigned revenue percentages in the cited breakdown.[21] [20][21]

Company history

Founded in October 1873 by Kihachiro Okura as Okura Gumi Shokai, Taisei traces its origins to a business involved in trade, civil engineering and building construction. Its early history includes the establishment of Nippon Doboku Co. in 1887, described in the company chronology as Japan’s first construction-industry corporation, and the incorporation of Okura Doboku Gumi in 1917. Early landmark works included the Rokumeikan and Lake Biwa Lock and Tunnel.[22][6]

The company adopted the name Taisei Corporation in 1946 and established a research institute in 1960. Its subsequent project history includes major Japanese infrastructure works such as the Seikan Tunnel, Seto Ohashi Bridge, Akashi Kaikyo Bridge and Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line, as well as urban developments including Yokohama Landmark Tower and Tokyo International Forum. Taisei later expanded its group through the 2009 conversion of Taisei Rotec into a wholly owned subsidiary and its 2023 acquisition of Satohide Corporation.[6] [22]
