Products & services

Take-Two’s product portfolio is published through Rockstar Games, 2K, and Zynga. Rockstar’s titles and franchises include Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire, Max Payne, and Midnight Club; Grand Theft Auto V includes access to Grand Theft Auto Online, and GTA+ is a paid membership offering rotating benefits, including access to classic titles.[2]

2K publishes games across shooter, action, role-playing, strategy, sports, and family/casual genres. Zynga’s free-to-play mobile games include CSR2, Empires & Puzzles, Match Factory!, Merge Dragons!, Toon Blast, Words With Friends, and Zynga Poker; these games use in-game sales and advertising.[3][4]

Across its portfolio, Take-Two offers online functionality and support, free content updates, downloadable and add-on content, virtual currency, in-game purchases, and in-game advertising. In FY2026, recurrent consumer spending—which includes virtual currency, add-on content, in-game purchases, and in-game advertising—accounted for 78.1% of net revenue; full game and other revenue accounted for 21.9%. Mobile, console, and PC/other represented 50.1%, 39.0%, and 10.9% of net revenue, respectively.[9] [2]

Geographic presence

In fiscal 2026, 40.8% of Take-Two Interactive’s net revenue came from outside the United States, primarily from Europe. The company does not report a more detailed country or regional revenue breakdown.[12][13] It describes China as a focus for expanding distribution and online gaming presence.[12]

Take-Two’s internal development studios span Australia, Canada, China, the Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Hungary, India, Serbia, South Korea, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It reported 9,998 full-time research and development employees as of March 31, 2026, but does not disclose their distribution by geography.[14]

The company’s principal executive offices are in New York City. Its listed subsidiary office locations extend across North America, Europe, and Asia-Pacific, including Australia, Canada, China and Hong Kong, India, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and multiple European countries.[15][16] Take-Two reports one operating and reportable segment rather than geographic segments.[17] [12]

Business segments

Take-Two reports one operating and reportable segment, managed on a consolidated basis; it does not disclose separate segment revenue contributions for its publishing labels. Rockstar Games focuses on a limited slate of long-lived titles, including action-adventure franchises; 2K publishes across genres including sports, shooter, action, role-playing, strategy, and family/casual games; and Zynga focuses on free-to-play mobile games monetized through in-game purchases and advertising. These are publishing labels, not separately reported operating segments.[17]

As alternative revenue views, FY2026 net revenue was attributed by platform to mobile (about 50.1%), console (39.0%), and PC and other (10.9%). By content, recurrent consumer spending represented about 78.1% and full game and other 21.9%. These percentages describe revenue mix, not contributions from separate operating segments.[18] [17]

Company history

Take-Two Interactive was founded by Ryan Brant and incorporated in 1993. In 1998, it acquired substantially all of BMG Interactive’s assets, including publishing and distribution rights to Grand Theft Auto; the Rockstar Games label was also founded that year. Grand Theft Auto III, released in 2001, marked a major milestone for the franchise.[19]

The company expanded its publishing labels and development studios in the mid-2000s. It launched 2K Games in 2005 and acquired Visual Concepts, Kush Games, Irrational Games, and Firaxis, strengthening its sports and game-development operations.[24] Strauss Zelnick became chairman in 2007 and chief executive officer in 2011.[28][29]

Take-Two released Red Dead Redemption in 2010 and Grand Theft Auto V in 2013, extending two of its prominent franchises.[30][31] In 2022, it completed its combination with mobile-game publisher Zynga.[32] In 2024, it completed its acquisition of Gearbox and sold Private Division and substantially all rights to that label’s titles.[33][20] [20]
